Kevin Chang's Fuyi River Sales Center: A Masterpiece of Nonlinear Design

Lab Modus' Award-Winning Architecture Inspired by the Sea Shell

The Fuyi River Sales Center, a showroom and office, is a striking addition to the neighborhood. Its design is characterized by a three-story grey glazed volume and a sequence of double-curved white coated metallic panels. These panels, inspired by the form of a sea shell, shift in width and pitch with a nonlinear rhythm, providing sunlight for the interior space and a unique perception for users inside the building.

The design takes full advantage of the length of the street front side, extending continuously to the back side of the project. This gives the building a strong presence in its context. The building is constructed using metal and glazing, with the metallic panels being 6mm thick and the grey glass being 8mm tempered.

One of the challenges faced in the design process was to link the building with its surroundings while also providing privacy for the users. This was achieved through the use of the double-curved panels and the strategic use of glazing. The result is a building that is both visually striking and functional.

The Fuyi River Sales Center was designed and built in Taipei, Taiwan in 2014.
